Left Handed 1 Irons

Posted by Jerry | Golf Clubs |

Just because I had a horrible experience with a purchase of a left handed 1 iron doesn’t mean that it’s a bad idea. I’ll try to help through this with a this simple checklist will help you keep on top of things when buying golf clubs online. I had wanted to buy either a TaylorMade or a Mizuno. I found one I liked on eBay and bought it. However, I did not check out the reputation of the seller first. This was a big mistake. The seller, who wasn’t knowledgeable about golf clubs, had listed the club as a lefty when it was actually a right handed club. To make matters worse, the club that was shipped to me wasn’t even a 1 iron but a 4 iron. Amazing, just amazing. Fortunately the situation was resolved to my satisfaction and I got my money back but it wasn’t easy to do.

In general, it is worth buying golf clubs, especially lefty ones, online. You would be hard pressed to walk in and ask about buying a left handed golf club and not get a blank stare at many a golf pro shop. The selection you can find is well worth the risk. You just need to take steps to minimize your risk when buying used golf clubs on eBay.

First, like I said, know your seller. Look for sellers with a long reputation for selling golf clubs. You can find sellers that specialize in lefty clubs, particular brands and so forth. These guys will know their stuff and as long as their feedback, including detailed information, checks out OK, they’re safe to order from. If you want to take more risks, you can buy from an individual but this requires more caution. I would avoid sellers that sell a wide variety of stuff unless you have a lot of risk tolerance.

Next, buy using PayPal with a credit card. This works to your advantage as a buyer since you have eBay protections, PayPal protections and your own credit card company’s protection. I would have been stuck with a left handed ‘1’ iron I couldn’t use if I hadn’t had these protections.

Lastly there are different formulas for determining the right price for your used golf clubs and how much it costs to ship them. Look for sellers with reasonable prices and very low or free shipping. Finding a good price on a pre-owned lefty golf club will make your day. Just use care and don’t end up like and my left handed 1 iron.
